Big Boy Beds

Since last Monday when the boys discovered they could climb in and out of the cribs they did that everyday until Saturday when I finally convinced Andy that they needed beds. He thought that climbing in and out of the cribs would be fine for the next 6 months, but I disagreed. So Saturday we headed to Babies R Us and bought some toddler beds. When the boys got up from their nap on Saturday they got to see their new big boy beds and they were so excited! As soon as Cale saw them he started saying, "big boy beds." Well surprisingly enough they did great with their new beds! I wish we hadn't waited a week to get them.

This past weekend they also moved out of their booster high chairs and started sitting at the table in the chairs with cushions to boost them up. They have also been doing great with that, but I think luckily the rule was at preschool that once you get up you are done and so is your plate. So, they only get up when they are finished eating because they know we will clean their plates out! I do not like change and I think that I have had enough change to last me for a while, but I would love to start potty training before the end of the summer. We'll see how that goes!

The New Challenge

Last weekend the paci breaking didn't go over so well with Carter. Cale just accepted the fact that his paci was broken but Carter decided to climb out of his crib and I guess look for new pacis. So then we decided to fight one battle at a time and give the pacis back and start sleeping in beds. Today at nap was the first time they have had the freedom to get in and out of bed and they did so from 1:30 until 4:00 when they finally fell asleep. During that time they switched beds and figure out they could turn their hamper over and use it as a bench to sit at their dresser and play with the CDs and CD player and everything else that was now within their reach. Oh the joy of two minds working together!

We went to Greensboro this past weekend for my niece's 2nd birthday party and the boys had a great time! When they left and had to come back to Mawmaw and Papaw's house to take a nap, which they did not do, they got to sit in Papaw's 55 Chevy. That is all they talk about every time they see a garage. Andy and I were able to go out to a nice peaceful dinner Saturday night without the kids to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary.

The Brave Weekend

The beginning of the week was very uneventful. We did our usual trips to the park, the farmers market, and buggy rides (jogging stroller). On Friday night we took the brave move of "breaking" the pacifiers! We did actually break them by cutting the tips off. At first the boys did fine and just kept saying, "pappy broken", but when they were ready to go to sleep it wasn't funny anymore. Cale did surprisingly well, but Carter cried for an hour before falling asleep. On Saturday Carter did not nap and prevented Cale from sleeping long, I really hope it will get better!

Below is a picture of our garden a week ago and it is even bigger now! We have squash, zucchini, tomatoes, pumpkins, green beans, eggplant, corn, cucumbers, and okra. We picked and ate our first squash. Cale loved it and Carter spit it out. We also picked some green beans and a green tomato.

It was so hot on Saturday that we filled up the new pool. At first the boys didn't know what to think but then when we put the slide in and Andy got in they thought it was the best thing ever. Cale even got brave enough to lay down in the pool and get his whole head wet! That was only after Carter fell and got his face soaked. I guess competition comes natural.

My First Blog

Well I have finally decided to do a blog. I thought that it would be fun to have a webpage with updates of the boys on it for our families and friends, but I had no clue how to do that and Andy was absolutely no help. I started off a few months ago with Myspace. That is ok, but I didn't like my page being public and being private means people have to sign up and be my friend to see my page. Then my brother told me about his blog using blogger.com and so I started one. Andy makes me goofy about having one because he is not into stuff like this, but he did think it was funny on Scrubs a while back when JD talked about having a blog. I am going to try an update weekly with pictures and stuff.

So, this week was the first week of summer break for the boys. They are in preschool and it ended last Thursday :( Well so far since they have been out, they have climbed out of their pack n plays while traveling and Tuesday they learned they can flip their "baby jail" over and escape! We did do something every morning this week, park, farmers market and today we went shopping. They were well behaved at everything, but at home they have turned in to true two year olds! This is going to be a long summer!
